iris-Holding

Created by an ordinance of 22 December 1995 of the Brussels-Capital Region (amended on 20 December 2002), the iris-Holding is in charge of the general management of the hospital activities of the Brussels public hospitals.

This comprises general powers for the coordination and integration of policies to be pursued by its hospitals, including the general strategy of the network, and controlling powers for the implementation of that strategy.

The public hospitals are established in a legal form described in Chapter 12 of the Public Welfare Centres Act. There is only one umbrella organisation which the one that is governed by Chapter 12 bis of that law.

Under its controlling powers, it carries out its supervisory mission on the main decisions of the network hospitals: the plan to establish the hospital, its financial plan, budget, public contracts beyond a certain amount, staff regulations, agreements with healthcare partners, and designation of its general manager.
