iris-Research

In line with its academic missions and the constant concern to improve the quality of care for its patients, in 2006 the iris network equipped itself with a clinical and translational research body, the non-profit association iris-Recherche asbl (iris-Research).

Its objectives are to apply the latest discoveries in fundamental research to the iris hospitals as well as to gain the widest possible access to new diagnostic techniques and new therapies.

In 2010, iris-Research created a fund at the King Baudouin Foundation to finance different inter-hospital research projects in the iris network, the iris-Research Fund.

A Scientific Committee that consists of 5 doctors from within and 5 from outside the iris network is in charge of reviewing and grading research projects submitted to it in compliance with the selection criteria, independently on the basis of scientific criteria.

The iris-Research Fund allocates several hundreds of thousands of euros every year to support the best research projects selected
